Patrol

Between 12–13 November 2025, I conducted foot patrols in Tenterden as part of Safer Business Week. The purpose was to engage with local businesses and members of the public to discuss concerns and promote community safety. Ashford Neighbourhood colleagues were simultaneously deployed in Ashford Town Centre and the Outlet.

While on patrol, I observed a Ford Transit van flagged for no insurance via ANPR check. Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking to the driver, he admitted he had no insurance and was “chancing a drive” to collect his children from school.

When the driver returned to the vehicle with three children, it was evident that:

The intervention prevented a high-risk journey that posed significant danger to the children and other road users. Intelligence shared with relevant teams for follow-up.
